Sydney Pimbley is an upcycled UK designer clothing label for women, founded in London in 2019 by designer Sydney Pimbley. Upcycling is central to the brand, which repurposes vintage garments, particularly denim, and works towards a near-zero-waste, closed-loop production cycle with plastic-free packaging. For its SS20 show, aluminium recycler Alutrade donated 500 cans that were refashioned into corsets, and in 2020 Zinko funded the first reduce-reuse-recycle initiative in Odessa. A designer and painter, she balances Korean and British sensibilities through sculptural silhouettes, unexpected details and an artful use of colour, designing for the modern woman. The label offers shirts, tops, jackets, skirts, trousers, dresses and knitwear, alongside shoes, bags and jewellery. Signature pieces include the Caprice and Robyn shirts, the Cleo taffeta jacket and the quilted Duvet Jacket. Many garments are made in South Korea, its alpaca knitwear is made entirely in Peru, and its jewellery is crafted in Thailand. Taking a slower, more intentional approach, the brand prioritises lower-impact materials, European-sourced fabrics and small-scale manufacturers to create pieces that last. Pyo has won the Samsung Fashion Design Fund and the British Fashion Award for Emerging Talent.
