Lady White Co. featured image

Lady White Co.

USA · Est. 2015 · Mid-range

Lady White Co. is a minimalist American designer clothing label for men, founded in Los Angeles in 2015 by Phillip Proyce. Proyce previously worked at the denim brand Rising Sun Jeans, and launched Lady White with a single product: a tubular-knit white jersey T-shirt. The brand describes its approach as "an uncommon approach to familiar classics", shaped by its view of American aesthetics. From that first tee, the collection has grown into everyday sportswear, including Our T-Shirt, the Athens and Municipal tees, rugby shirts, raglan thermals, heavy gusset crewnecks, hoodies, polos, button-downs, knitwear, jeans and outerwear. It also sells caps, socks and a selection of photography books. Everything is made in the USA. Lady White's custom jerseys and fleeces are knitted locally from domestically grown cotton and sewn by family-owned factories within ten miles of its design headquarters in Los Angeles. That locally made production gives the label close control over fabric weight, fit and finishing, and lets it develop its own knits rather than buying stock fabric. The result is a tightly edited range of natural-fibre basics designed for everyday wear and long use rather than seasonal trends.

Shaina Mote

USA · Est. 2012 · Luxury

Shaina Mote is an American minimalist designer clothing label for women, founded in 2012 by Shaina Mote and based in Hudson, New York. The label makes trousers, shirts, coats, knitwear, denim and accessories, including the Boy Trouser, the Painter Pant and Painter Coat, the Work Shirt, the alpaca Saatchi Cardigan and the Market Tote. Most pieces are made locally in the US, its Fair Trade certified knitwear is crafted in Peru, and its denim uses Italian regenerative cotton. Garments are made with care in small quantities, with a focus on regenerative practices, time-honoured artisanal techniques and natural fabrics, and the brand views its business through a circular lens, offering repairs and recycling fabric scraps. Shaina Mote has a store at 409 Warren Street in Hudson, and Mote, whose first creative love was photography, now shoots her own collections.

The range focuses on everyday staples: knitwear, shirts, tees, trousers, skirts and outerwear. Signature pieces include the Classic Crew Wool Cardigan, the Funnel Wool/Cash Turtleneck, the Cropped Rollneck Pullover Sweater, the Oversized Cotton Shirt, the Plunged Neck Silk Cami and the High Neck Suede Jacket. All pieces are produced in Seoul, South Korea, with small, family-run factories that have 20 to 30 years of sewing experience. Jakett featured image

Jakett

USA · Est. 2008 · Luxury

Jakett is an American leather jacket label for women, founded in New York City in 2008 by designer Joseph Greco. It grew out of an obsessive search for the perfect completer piece: an effortless leather jacket that feels as natural as a second skin. The brand designs for a woman who is comfortable, confident and loves "classic cool", embracing the perfectly imperfect look of a distressed leather jacket. Jakett's jackets are produced unlined so the softness of the natural skins shines through, and the brand says they wear like a favourite sweatshirt. Styles include the Adriana Vintage Leather Jacket, the Alexa Burnished Leather Jacket, the Amelia Wrinkled Leather Jacket and the Vespa Vintage Leather Jacket. It also makes leather vests such as the Greta and a line called JKT NYC. Every jacket is handmade one at a time in Pakistan by generationally trained master leather workers using gentle, traditional tanning methods. Its skins are a byproduct of small family farms raising food for local communities, so the brand never uses animals killed for their skins. Jakett is independent and owned and run by Greco as founder and CEO.
