Tradlands is an American sustainable, minimalist clothing label for women, based in Pemaquid, Maine, and founded in 2012 by Sadie Beaudet and Jeremy Roberts. Beaudet, who runs the brand with her husband, grew tired of chasing fast-fashion trends and found herself drifting to the menswear aisles, where she saw options she couldn't find for women. Tradlands grew out of that missing space, focusing on perfecting essentials for women inspired by thoughtful tailoring, expert details and quality fabrics rather than the runway. The range includes button-up shirts, tops, sweaters, dresses and pants, with extended and plus sizes. Signature pieces include the Marin Boatneck Shirt, the Coast Camp Linen Shirt, the Bertille Top, the Nico 2.0 Balloon Sleeve Dress, the Porch Balloon Pants and the Cosimo Alpaca Cardigan. Woven pieces such as button-ups are made in China and knits such as sweaters in Peru, with family-owned manufacturers. Tradlands focuses on natural fibres such as cotton, linen and alpaca, creating foundational pieces meant to become the canvas of a wardrobe rather than disposable fashion. The brand says it is built by its community and team, and it shares how women wear its pieces on Instagram.

ASHER featured image

ASHER

USA · Est. 2022 · Mid-range

ASHER is a minimalist American clothing label for women, launched in Los Angeles in 2022 as an extension of the Asher knitting mill. Built on the philosophy that fabric is the starting point, the brand bridges fabric development and garment design to express the intimacy of the relationship between customers and their clothes. It reinvents American sportswear through refined materiality and informed nostalgia, with a laid-back Californian sensibility. The collection focuses on elevated everyday basics, including tees such as the Vicki V-Neck, sweatpants, sweatshirts, hoodies, cardigans, sweaters, skirts, polos and wide-leg trousers. Inspired by heritage sportswear, its CloudFleece captures the look and feel of vintage athleticwear, and every piece is made in the USA, in Los Angeles. Because the label grows out of its own mill, it develops its fabrics in house, working mainly in cotton, including recycled cotton, to create modern staples designed to last. ASHER ships across the United States and sells its Los Angeles-made basics through its own online store.

Turn Black featured image

Turn Black

India · Est. 2018 · Mid-range

Turn Black is an Indian designer, sustainable handmade clothing label for women and men, founded in New Delhi in 2018 by Nutan Dayal and Amit Singh Chauhan. The brand began as a personal exploration by Dayal, its creative director, rooted in questioning gender norms and stereotypes. With no formal training in fashion design, she started designing and sewing loose garments for friends and family, and Chauhan embraced the idea of an all-black clothing line from the outset. Black is the foundation of every collection, chosen for its practicality, versatility and timelessness. The range includes pants, shirts, tops, dresses, sets, jackets and vests, plus homeware and furniture, with pieces such as the Wide Leg Pin-Tuck Pants, the Raglan Sleeve Shirt Dress and the Reversible Linen-Chenille Vest. Everything is made in India. Every piece is handcrafted by skilled artisans and made slowly, blending contemporary design with traditional techniques such as kantha embroidery. Its Scrap Project turns leftover fabric into masks and scrunchies. Turn Black has grown into a community built around being minimal, ethical and size-inclusive, and it created a menswear capsule with the band Peter Cat Recording Co in 2019.

Crow Collective featured image

Crow Collective

USA · Est. 2015 · Affordable

Crow Collective is a minimalist American everyday clothing label, founded in New York in 2015 by Evan Novis. Inspired by a crow's symbolism as a seeker and shapeshifting traveller, he set out to make one pair of pants you could do anything in and still look amazing. The collection includes the signature Journey Pant and Journey Short, the Flow 5" and Swerve 7" shorts from its Yoga Crow line, shirts, and West Side hoodies and crewnecks. Clothing is made in the USA, with clean, modern cuts that can be dressed up, dressed down and worn from the streets of New York to the yoga studio. The Journey Pant is soft, four-way stretch and moisture-wicking, with pockets and an elastic drawstring waist, designed for movement throughout the day. Locally made, minimalist staples are designed to be worn often, so customers do not need to change clothes for every moment. Oori Ott featured image

Oori Ott

USA · Est. 2018 · Mid-range

Oori Ott is an American designer label for women, founded in Los Angeles in 2018 by Hannah Park. The Los Angeles-raised designer started it to make the nostalgic, glamorous pieces she couldn't find elsewhere. The brand is rooted in the harmony of opposites, East and West, past and present, maximalist glamour and everyday ease, drawing on traditional Korean dress, silver-screen icons and the excess of past decades to make clothes that feel dressed up without trying too hard. Styled OORI OTT, the label releases small drops of bodysuits, tops, skirts, shorts, trousers and dresses. Signature pieces include the Drive Bodysuit with shoulder pads, the Infinity Halter, the Petal Capri, the Bubbles Skirt, the hand-beaded Silk Rose of Sharon Skirt and the Tissue Dress, plus the Blossom Bag. Styles that need specialised techniques are made in its small atelier in Seoul or at an audited, certified factory in Guangzhou. Pomandère featured image

Pomandère

Italy · Est. 2008 · Mid-range

Pomandère is a minimalist Italian designer label for women, founded in Zanè in 2008 by Carlo Zanuso. His family had spent more than 30 years making shirts for other brands in a historic Veneto fashion district before launching their own label, and that sartorial know-how still shapes its style, which the brand sums up as rigour and fluidity, androgyny and femininity: tailored pieces in pure geometries and soft, natural tones, made to be worn every day for years. The shirt is the heart of the collection, from striped poplin and habutai silk styles to shantung shirts in viscose, linen and silk. Around it sit shirt dresses, dresses, trousers, skirts, knitwear, coats, shoes and accessories. Production is entirely Italian, with most garments made in the family's own factory near Vicenza using local suppliers. Pomandère favours natural materials such as linen, cotton and silk, and shares its environmental work through its Pomandère for Green and Transparency Project pages. It also makes a line of fragrances for the home and the person. The brand opened its first flagship store at 26 Rue Saint-Sulpice in Paris's Saint-Germain neighbourhood, and sells online across Europe, the US and other markets.

Waltz Studio featured image

Waltz Studio

USA · Est. 2014 · Mid-range

Waltz is a minimalist American designer clothing label for women, founded in San Francisco in 2014 by Danielle Colen. A native New Yorker with a background in landscape and architectural photography, Colen earned an MFA in fashion design at the Academy of Art University and worked as a patternmaker before launching her own line. Her love of strong lines and precise shapes runs through every collection, built on the belief that fashion should elevate the everyday without frills or excess. Inspired by the simplicity of menswear but cut for a woman's body, Waltz makes seasonless wardrobe staples: dresses, shirts, tops, trousers, jeans, skirts, jumpsuits, jackets and knitwear in natural fabrics such as cotton, organic cotton, linen, wool and lyocell. Patterns are cut in the San Francisco studio and garments are made in the USA. The label's ethical approach rests on domestic manufacturing, careful tailoring and long-lasting pieces designed to slip into an existing wardrobe rather than chase trends. Racked named Waltz a San Francisco womenswear brand to watch in 2016, and the label has been featured in Metal Magazine. Its collections have been stocked by West Coast boutiques including Voyager, Anaise and Anomie.

Blluemade

USA · Est. 2015 · Mid-range

Blluemade is a minimalist American designer clothing label for men and women, founded in 2015 by husband-and-wife team Alex Robins and Lilly Lampe and now based in New York. An academic and an arts writer, the couple had no plans to start a fashion brand until linen dresses they designed for travel drew questions from friends. Their research into what makes good linen led them to Belgium. The gender-neutral line is inspired by vintage farming and workwear garments and historic textiles that age well over decades. It includes linen caps and bucket hats, tees, Italian nylon shorts and seasonal linen garments released in small editions. Everything is made in the USA, in New York City's Garment District. The name explains the approach: "blue" for the founders' love of indigo, vintage denim and blue-dyed textiles, "made" for a commitment to ethical production, and the extra "L" for linen. Its Belgian linen is certified Masters of Linen, produced entirely in Europe from field to fabric, and meets OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Blluemade has been featured by Gear Patrol, and its founders have publicly campaigned to protect the zoning that keeps garment factories in Manhattan's Garment District.
