Phoenix General is an ethical American clothing and lifestyle store with its own label, founded in Phoenix in 2016 by Kenny Barrett and Joshua Hahn. The Phoenix natives, who earlier co-owned the Roosevelt Row boutique GROWop, describe Phoenix General as "the new general store", inspired by life in a modern desert city. Their aim is clothing that is wearable all year in the desert climate and timeless rather than trendy. The in-house PHX GEN line includes T-shirts, tanks, socks, hats and tote bags that interpret Phoenix's desert identity, and its clothing is made in the USA. The stores also stock men's and women's clothing, jewellery, housewares and gifts hand-selected from local, regional and international designers and artists. Barrett and Hahn favour lightweight yet durable fabrics, a lived-in feel and ethically produced labels, with a strong emphasis on independent and local makers. The first Phoenix General opened at The Colony in midtown Phoenix in June 2016, and a second store opened on Roosevelt Row inside monOrchid in 2019. The shop and its founders have been featured by Phoenix New Times.

Its motto, from our planet to your closet, sums up a slow, low-impact approach with no chemicals or bleach. Everything is handmade in small batches in Indian villages. Unborn works with handwoven natural-fibre fabrics, including Kala cotton, an organic cotton native to Kutch in Gujarat. Its eco-printing transfers real leaves and flowers onto cloth, and it dyes with plants and natural mordants while reusing the water from the steaming process. Its ethical philosophy is to make less: clothes designed to outlast trends and seasons, soften with age and withstand many washes, so customers buy less and wear longer. The name means mountain in Finnish, a nod to his love of climbing, and the brand aims to evolve the definition of traditional activewear. Its clothing is made by overseas manufacturing partners, including factories in China, which must follow its Vendor Code of Conduct. Yarmouth Oilskins is a British maker of coastal workwear, established in Great Yarmouth in 1898. That year Johnson and Sons became a limited company, and four of its partners joined local businessmen to form Yarmouth Stores Ltd, making oilskins, smocks and workwear for the herring fishing industry and seafarers. The company exported around the world and, before the Second World War, employed more than 1,200 people, most of them machinists. Today the label makes classic, unisex functional clothing designed to be layered for the weather. It is best known for its smocks, including The Classic Smock, The Hooded Smock, The Shawl Collar Smock and The Explorer Smock, alongside The Admiralty Shirt, The Deck Jacket, The Drivers Jacket, The Bib and Brace and The All English Tee. Everything is made in the company's own factory in Great Yarmouth, using traditional methods and many of its original patterns. The collection is made mainly from cotton, linen and wool, including some deadstock fabrics. Yarmouth Oilskins remains an independent, family-owned company, still working from its factory on the English coast more than 125 years after it began.

Overall Office is a sustainable, organic European designer clothing label, founded in Prague in 2016 by Kristýna Nováková, Karolína Juříková and Monika Krobová. The three met as students at Prague's UMPRUM academy and gained experience at European studios such as Steven Tai, Reality Studio and Camper before starting the brand as an independent creative platform for ideas, mini collections and objects. Today it is run by Nováková and Juříková. Overall Office is best known for its spiral-cut swimwear, and the range includes swimsuits, bikinis, underwear such as the LEA line, socks, T-shirts, scarves and accessories, including Shell bags made from leather offcuts. Everything is made in Czechia in small series of up to 50 pieces, with specialised ethical factories and individual seamstresses. Fabrics are organic, deadstock or regenerated: swimwear uses ECONYL regenerated nylon, organic cotton comes from Turkey's Aegean region, and orders ship in compostable mailers and recycled paper. The brand avoids trends and discounts, building timeless products over several seasons. Overall Office has created custom projects for Rossmann, Pilsner Urquell and Becherovka, was selected for the EU's S4 Fashion programme and has featured in Vogue CS's Identita project and in CzechDesign and Selectedmag.

The three friends met while working at a high street brand and spent decades in the fashion industry before deciding, during the pause of 2020, to build a label that balanced style with responsibility. The name combines "alba", Spanish and Italian for dawn, with "ray", a ray of light or hope. Albaray designs ethical, everyday clothing with a capsule wardrobe in mind: dresses, tops, knitwear, outerwear, trousers, jeans, skirts, jumpsuits and swimwear, such as the Cosy Drop Shoulder Jumper and the Cord Midi Dress. Karen Peacock leads design, and clothing is made by long-standing suppliers mainly in China and India. All fabrics are responsibly sourced, including organic cotton, recycled polyester and LENZING ECOVERO viscose. Packaging uses FSC-certified paper, swing tags and labels are recycled and recyclable, returns are fully digital and shipping is carbon neutral. Its Albaray Re-Loved service resells pre-owned pieces. Albaray runs a shop in Bath and is also sold through UK retailers including John Lewis and Next.

Soft Focus is a Canadian minimalist loungewear label for women, founded in Toronto in 2017 by Sammi Smith. After a decade working for some of Canada's most loved fashion brands, Smith left her nine-to-five to work for herself and faced a new daily question: how to get dressed for work when the office is the couch and a laptop. At first she wore her old pyjamas all day, but eventually wanted to get dressed again, and Soft Focus was born. The label is a playful vision of fancy pyjamas for the modern age, a uniform for work-from-home lifestyles created years before that became the norm. Its pieces include the Demi Set, the Foundation Set, the Contessa Shirt, crop camis, robes and terry sweatsuits, made in Canada. Smith designs collared sleep shirts that can become breezy blouses and terry sweatsuits that double as a cosy pantsuit, using quality natural fabrics. The shop has also offered zero-waste scrunchies and resold vintage cashmere. For six years Soft Focus sold direct to consumers and through boutiques across North America, building a community of comfort lovers. The shop is currently on a break while Smith consults for other retail brands.

Asket publishes full supply-chain traceability and an impact receipt for each product, showing its carbon, water and energy footprint. It repairs garments for free in its stores, ships spare parts worldwide and buys back unwanted pieces for resale or recycling. Asket launched through a Kickstarter campaign that raised about 45,800 euros for its first T-shirt production. It has since opened stores in Stockholm and other cities.

Knickerbocker is an American designer clothing label for men, founded in New York in 2013 by Andrew Livingston. Livingston had been making hats with a 60-year-old factory on the border of Brooklyn and Queens when the owner offered to sell him the space. Funded by a Kickstarter campaign, he and friends Daniel McRorie and Kyle Mosholder set up Knickerbocker Manufacturing Co. there, making clothing for other labels while building their own. The collection blends classic American style with workwear, military and outdoor references, covering shirts such as the Pacific Corduroy Shirt, Miles pleated trousers and suit jackets, Harbor Twill Pants, coats, knitwear, tees, sweatshirts, K102 jeans and caps. After closing the New York factory in 2018, Livingston moved most production to family-owned mills and factories in Northern Portugal. Watch caps are still made in the USA and alpaca sweaters in Peru, with fabrics sourced from Japan and Europe. Pieces use mainly cotton and wool, and its manufacturing partners hold certifications including GOTS, OCS, GRS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100. In 2021 Knickerbocker opened its flagship store on Canal and Wooster Street in Soho, and it also has a store in Melbourne.
