Guðrun & Guðrun is a designer knitwear label from the Faroe Islands, founded in Tórshavn in 2000 by Guðrun Rógvadóttir and Guðrun Ludvig. Rógvadóttir had worked on EU projects worldwide but wanted to build something of her own, and she reached out to Ludvig, a passionate knitter, about the wasted potential of Faroese wool. Friends and business partners for over two decades, the two women share a passion for design, innovation, sustainability and people. The range includes women's and men's sweaters, cardigans, tops, dresses and skirts, plus children's knits, accessories and home pieces. Signature pieces include the Bjøll sweater, the Stásilig cardigan, the Isabella dress and the Bjarma balaclava. Its knitwear is hand-knitted by women in the Faroe Islands, with some pieces knitted in Jordan and Peru, using wool, alpaca and mohair. Ludvig, as creative director, draws inspiration from the serene beauty of her homeland. The brand became famous for the sweater worn by detective Sarah Lund in the Danish TV series The Killing. It remains independent, owned by its founders, and sells online and through stores worldwide.

Each season is built around a personal story drawn from American history and culture. The daughter of Indian immigrants, Ananthanpillai grew up just outside Washington, D.C., and started the brand after finding the market split between modern Indian clothing made only for the Indian community and Western labels using South Asian prints without real connection or respect. Her aim is to make South Asian fashion accessible and approachable to women of all ethnicities. La' Agra first launched with cocktail dresses that highlighted South Asian prints and traditional techniques such as pleating. The range now covers dresses, tops, skirts and jackets plus headbands, scarves and bags, including the Dolce Top, the Belle Skirt, the Mirage Dress, the Luminara Jacket and the Viviana Dress. Designs draw on tassels, brocades, embroidery, lace and other artisan details. Everything is made by skilled artisans in small batches in Dubai, using limited fabrics with no restocks, so pieces stay rare. The brand says its handcrafting methods minimise waste and that it supports artisan communities with fair wages. Before launching the line, Patel-Cohn worked in creative roles at Barneys and at Prada in Milan. With an Indian father and an Italian mother, she was inspired by the saris her family wore at her wedding in Italy and set out to create a modern, minimal take on caftans, tunics and easy dresses in handwoven fabrics. Taking its name from the German word for clothing seen in Burda pattern magazines, it was one of the pioneering designer brands of the Palermo neighbourhood. The duo set out to build a brand with identity that could also be commercial, embracing what they call anti-fashion. The label offers premium, contemporary ready-to-wear with a conceptual edge, including denim, outerwear and tailoring, along with eyewear. Its designs are often genderless, oversized, sporty and functional, drawing on influences such as the Bauhaus, Le Corbusier and David Bowie. Kostüme designs its clothing in Buenos Aires and makes it in Argentina, shipping worldwide. The founders work from emotion rather than sales rankings, spending months developing each piece instead of producing at speed. Kostüme celebrated its 25th anniversary with its 51st collection, AW26. It remains an independent brand run by its co-founders.

KUON is a Japanese designer clothing label for men, founded in Tokyo in 2016 by Arata Fujiwara, with designer Shinichiro Ishibashi. Ishibashi apprenticed with an established Tokyo tailor and worked as a pattern maker at a high-end brand showing in Paris before becoming KUON's designer. The name means eternity, the remote past or the future, and permanence, reflected in its motto: "New things become old, but beautiful things remain beautiful." KUON makes jackets and coats such as the Sashiko Crest Snow Parka and Dorozome MA-1, shirts, T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, vests, hakama trousers and denim, plus caps, bags and one-of-a-kind vintage boro pieces. Everything is made in Japan. The label combines traditional boro patchwork, sashiko stitching, sakiori weaving and mud dyeing with Western clothing, revitalising vintage textiles. It upcycles boro with the Otsuchi Sashiko Project in Iwate, which supports recovery from the 2011 earthquake, and its sakiori is woven by people with disabilities at Sakkora Japan. KUON won the Tokyo Fashion Award in 2018, which took it to Pitti Uomo and the showroom.tokyo in Paris, and runs a flagship store in Tokyo.
