Nat’v Basics

Australia · Est. 2019 · Mid-range

Basics is an activewear and sustainable underwear brand founded on October 31, 2019 by Gold Coast-based Sandy Ronalds, who launched it on her daughter's birthday as a meaningful tribute to the future she wanted to help create. After years working in business and noticing the enormous amount of waste generated by everyday apparel, Sandy set out to create comfortable and ethical underwear made from eco-friendly fabrics extracted from renewable beech wood using an environmentally responsible process. The brand grew from Sandy working alone out of her parents' spare bedroom to a team of six, generating over eight million dollars in revenue in its first few years while remaining 100 percent independently owned. Its signature fabric is breathable, antibacterial, non-toxic, and soft enough for sensitive skin, and the brand maintains a zero-tolerance policy for child labor, discrimination, and unsafe working conditions throughout its supply chain.

Body of Work Studio

Canada · Est. 2020 · Mid-range

Body of Work is a minimalist Canadian activewear label, founded in Toronto in 2020 by Dwayne Vatcher and Brittney MacKinnon. The pair spent around a decade in apparel, MacKinnon at Aritzia's head office in Vancouver and Vatcher as a marketing manager at Reigning Champ, before creating an artisanal design studio that brings a sense of ease to activity. Drawing on vintage sportswear and the tranquility of nature, its products are understated yet not without presence. The unisex range includes T-shirts such as the Calla, the Acacia Legging, sweatpants, French terry sweatshirts, the Poplar Skirt, the Jasper Pull-On Pant, caps and bags, plus sneakers made with Japanese footwear maker Moonstar. Everything is designed, knit, dyed, cut and sewn in Canada, less than an hour from the Toronto studio, with family-owned fabric mills and factories. The label custom develops fabrics with knitting mills and uses natural fibres, organic where possible, along with repurposed and recycled fabrics in small-batch collections. A French terry recycling programme rewards customers who return well-worn pieces. Body of Work has been featured by SHARP, Highsnobiety, NUVO and The New Order, and is stocked by Nepenthes America.

HERMANOS KOUMORI

Mexico · Est. 2016 · Mid-range

Hermanos Koumori is a Mexican activewear and streetwear label, founded in Mexico City in 2016 by Alex León and Alex Sandler. The two friends started out in contemporary fashion and streetwear, aiming to build a brand from Mexico for the world. When they took up running and released a T-shirt reading "Post Running High", it went viral, and the brand gradually turned into a label designed for movement. The collection includes race singlets, training shorts and tights, long and short sleeve tees, hoodies, over shirts, caps and socks, made for people who run every week, not once a year. Every product is designed and tested in Mexico City, at 2,240 metres above sea level, and many pieces are made in part with recycled materials. The brand works directly with the adidas team in Herzogenaurach on collaborative product, from the H.Koumori Ultraboost 5 and Adizero EVO SL shoes to Adi365 apparel. Its stores, five in Mexico City and its metropolitan area and one in Guadalajara, are designed as spaces to experience the brand through architecture, music and materials. Hermanos Koumori has been featured by Harper's Bazaar and Believe in the Run.
