About

Botanica Workshop is an American organic lingerie and loungewear label for women, founded in Los Angeles in 2014 by Misa Miyagawa. Born and raised in Silver Lake, Miyagawa studied fashion design at Parsons in New York and Central Saint Martins in London, and started the brand from a need for responsibly produced intimates with a designer aesthetic and quality to match. The name joins Botanica, for its ecologically minded use of materials, with Workshop, for the experiential nature of designing and producing handcrafted goods. The collection has grown from bralettes and briefs into everyday essentials, including the Aya Bralette, Astra Hi-Waist Brief and Lila Bikini Brief, camisoles, slip dresses and loungewear. Pieces are made in the USA, in small runs produced in Los Angeles with local artisans and technicians. Each collection is approached with the sensibility of a ready-to-wear wardrobe and the handcrafted feel and technical construction of vintage undergarments. The label uses organic cotton, stretch silk and recycled and upcycled materials. Botanica Workshop has been featured by The Wall Street Journal, Who What Wear, Vogue.com and Racked LA, and collaborated with artist Amelia Giller on a lookbook.

SEEKER

USA · Est. 2016 · Mid-range

SEEKER is a gender-neutral, organic American clothing label, founded in Los Angeles in 2016 by designer Ally Ferguson. A Los Angeles native with more than 15 years in fashion, Ferguson worked at labels including G-Star Raw, Ed Hardy and Field Scout and founded Metta Agency, a design and manufacturing platform for celebrity brands such as Tyler, the Creator's Golf Wang and Kimoji. Inspired by the utilitarian clothing of spiritual cultures she met while travelling, she created SEEKER as an ethical, effortless daily uniform. The minimalist collection includes gender-inclusive shirts, tops, trousers, jackets, robes, shorts and socks in relaxed, adaptable fits for different genders, ages and bodies. Garments are made in small batches in Los Angeles, using organic hemp, organic cotton and other natural fibres, with occasional silk. Hemp is central to the brand's sustainability story: it needs roughly half the water of cotton, little to no pesticide and returns nutrients to the soil. Ferguson's manifesto also champions regenerative agriculture and clothing as a daily ritual rather than a disposable purchase. Ferguson competed on Season 2 of Amazon Prime Video's Making the Cut, which brought SEEKER global exposure, and the brand has been featured by Cannabis Now.

Shortly after relocating from their native Denmark to Southern California, the couple launched the brand out of their garage in Silver Lake, aiming to build a global brand of timeless wardrobe building blocks. Anine is the brand's Chief Creative Officer and Nico its President, and the label blends Scandinavian simplicity with American energy for women seeking a timeless yet confident approach to everyday style. The range covers jackets, blazers, jeans, tees, sweatshirts, knitwear and dresses, plus shoes, bags and fine jewellery. Signature pieces include the Reza, Camden and Rory jackets, the Elga blazer, Gavin, Hugh and Roy jeans and the Miles Sweatshirt. The brand doesn't publish a full list of where its clothing is made, though some pieces are made in Italy and Turkey. It reduces overproduction with test-and-reorder buying and uses some GOTS organic cotton and OEKO-TEX fabrics. ANINE BING remains an independent label led by its founders. It has stores around the world.

Milkbarn featured image

Milkbarn

USA · Est. 2006 · Affordable

Milkbarn is an American organic kids' clothing label, founded in 2006 by Stacy Phillips. Phillips began sewing bibs inspired by her seven-month-old son, and the family farmhouse kitchen table soon doubled as a design studio as bibs and accessories gave way to a small apparel collection. The brand's roots lie in dairy country in the rolling hills north of San Francisco, and its look mixes vintage and modern, country and urban, celebrating a child's imagination. Milkbarn makes baby and children's clothing such as its Zipper Footed Romper, along with bibs, blankets, nursery essentials, toys, gifts and a series of children's books. Its original prints are a mother-daughter collaboration: Phillips' daughter, Haley Hunt, paints the artwork used on its fabrics and illustrates the books. Clothing is made from GOTS-certified organic cotton and bamboo rayon, coloured with low-impact dyes and free of chemical flame retardants, and production takes place in China. Phillips now lives in Leiper's Fork, Tennessee, and the brand ships from a warehouse in Petersburg, Tennessee, selling online and through stockists around the world.
