is founded in 2010 by creative director Sally LaPointe and CEO Sarah Adelson, best friends who met while studying at the Rhode Island School of Design and built this designer clothing brand quite literally from the floor of their shared TriBeCa loft in their early twenties. LaPointe had a background in fine arts and graduated with a BFA in apparel design from RISD in 2006, while Adelson brought experience in production. The brand debuted its first runway show in September 2010 and immediately attracted the attention of Lady Gaga, who wore its black corseted dress to the International Consumer Electronics Show and has remained a loyal fan ever since. Known for bold monochromatic palettes, head-to-toe sets, and statement dressing made effortlessly easy, the brand was originally called Sally LaPointe before being rebranded to simply LaPointe in 2020 to support its evolution into a full lifestyle brand. LaPointe joined the CFDA in 2015 and received the FGI Rising Star Award that same year, and has since dressed Oprah Winfrey, Zendaya, and Beyonce.
