About

BOBO CHOSES is a Spanish kidswear and womenswear label, founded in Barcelona in 2008 by illustrator Adriana Esperalba with partner Laia Aguilar. The brand grew out of a graphic design studio, and Esperalba has guided its design ever since. Bobo Choses celebrates life's curiosities with a spirit of play, and its love of storytelling brings each collection to life through illustrated books. It makes playful, colourful clothing for babies and children, plus a womenswear and adult line. The range includes graphic tees, sweatshirts and hoodies, jacquard jumpers such as the Mush Monster, striped wool-blend knits, trousers, dresses, reversible anoraks, and accessories. Based in an old toy factory in Barcelona, Bobo Choses makes most of its garments locally, mainly in Spain and Portugal, with some items made in China. Over half of its latest collection uses organic or BCI cotton, and its denim and outerwear use recycled fibres. The brand is owned by the Esperalba family, which took full control in 2017, with Adriana Esperalba as creative director and her brother Pim as CEO. It is sold in more than 46 countries through hundreds of retailers, with a flagship store in Barcelona.

UNNA

Sweden · Est. 2022 · Mid-range

UNNA is a European activewear label for women and men, founded in Stockholm in 2022 by John-Ruben Holtback. Holtback previously founded the menswear label L'HOMME ROUGE, named brand of the year at Nordiska Kompaniet and a winner of the International Woolmark Prize, and created UNNA after a health scare showed him how much exercise matters for body and mind. The name is a Swedish term for treating yourself, and the brand's "Finish in a Good Place" motto puts joy and well-being ahead of performance. The collection covers running shorts, tights, sports bras, T-shirts, tanks, long-sleeve tops, jackets, trousers, hoodies, socks and accessories, combining sportswear function with fashion-led silhouettes, colours and prints. Production takes place in trusted factories within the European Union. Material science sits at the centre of product development. UNNA uses ECONYL regenerated nylon made from waste such as fishing nets, recycled polyester from PET bottles, TENCEL lyocell and modal, GOTS-certified organic cotton for all its cotton products, and RWS-certified, mulesing-free wool. Highsnobiety profiled UNNA in its Under the Radar series, presenting it as part of a new wave of "anti-performance" running brands.

Aniela Parys

Spain · Mid-range

Aniela Parys is a Spanish lingerie and swimwear label for women, started in Portland, Oregon, by designer Aniela Parys and now based in Barcelona. Growing up in Oregon, Parys learned early about how detrimental the fashion industry can be to communities and the environment, and she created the label as an alternative to the exploitative nature of fast fashion. She began working on the brand while living in Portland and launched it after moving to Spain in March 2015, and she describes it as an independent project. The label makes handmade, small-batch clothing, swimwear and lingerie, along with one-of-a-kind pieces and objects. Lingerie includes the Amara Lace Bralette Top, Suau Bralette and Suri Knickers, and swimwear includes the Marina One Piece and the Juno and Zeus sets. It also makes waffle jackets and trousers, the Cliona Cardigan and one-of-a-kind Tablecloth Dresses. Its capsule collections are handmade in small batches in its Barcelona studio, using deadstock fabric rescued from Barcelona factories, GOTS-certified organic cotton, linen, TENCEL and ECONYL regenerated nylon, plus plant-based dyes. Aniela Parys collaborates with artists on each collection and runs lingerie-making workshops.

DAWN x DARE

Denmark · Est. 2016 · Luxury

DAWN x DARE is a sustainable European designer knitwear label for women, founded in Copenhagen in 2016 by Charlotte Vadum and Vibeke Bernhoft. The pair, who had run the commercial fashion brand Project AJ117 together since 2005, wanted to create something more timeless and exclusive. The name reflects styles to wear in the morning, Dawn, and when going out at night, Dare. The label brings hand knitting into a modern universe with pullovers, cardigans, short-sleeve knits, tops, dresses and skirts in bold colours and textures, plus woven shirts, pants and scarves. Its knits are made in Italy by a community of women who knit and crochet by hand from their homes in the hills of Tuscany. DAWN x DARE uses certified, traceable Italian yarns such as mohair, kid mohair and GOTS-certified organic cotton, with animal fibres sourced under the Responsible Animal Fiber Standard. Since 2020 it has made a numbered limited-edition capsule from deadstock yarns, with each one-of-a-kind piece taking two to three days to knit. The brand has shown at the Revolver fair in Copenhagen since its launch and is stocked in high-end multibrand boutiques and showrooms across Europe and Australia.
